We Must Remember

There is but one chapter in the book of Jude. Verse 17 says we must remember...

Verse 20, But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.

>Building

>Praying

>Keeping

>Waiting

A growing, vibrant-life in Christ cannot be void of any of these.

>Building ourselves and the kingdom-by His hand

> Praying without ceasing-keeping our minds on Him

>Keeping our lives in the midst of the love of God-allowing the love of God to flow through us to complete His ministry

>Waiting for Christ's return with spirit-filled anticipation-looking forward while our hands and feet continue the work.

Jude, verse 20, also does something else. It uses pronouns that point to our taking the initiative. WE must do these things. It is our choice. Look at the verse one more time.

"But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life."

We build ourselves up in our holy faith, praying, (with our) waiting for the mercy of the Lord Jesus.

We build ourselves up in our holy faith by our praying and waiting.

In a couple of days, we will read in Hosea:

Hosea 12:6 Therefore, return to your God, Observe kindness and justice, And wait for your God continually.

>, we observe(or choose to participate in by not judging)kindness and justice and wait.

Psalm 27:14 Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.

>Be strong, take courage, wait

Psalm 37:7 Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes

> Rest and wait and do not envy the wicked.(Proverbs 3:31)

This is all common knowledge to God. The scripture shows us God's heart and mind in His desire for us and our growth. When we were little and young, as much as we desired, we could not speed up our physical growth. We cannot speed our spiritual growth. God's desire is that we grow in Him-but-we can grow at His speed and not ours. He will lift us up in due time-His time. 1 Peter 5:6&7

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

This tells us that Jesus even died for our anxiety-He carried our worries to the Cross...

No worries, God's got this.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me for expecting growth without humbling myself. Keep me centered. Keep my mind flooded with your peace and power and 'waiting patience' as I choose to wait.

In Jesus' name,

Amen
