But When We Wander Not
1 Timothy 6:10- For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
Some people...have wandered from the faith.
But what of those of us who dare not wander from the faith? What of those of us who seek the kingdom and His righteousness; those of us who cannot get enough of His knowledge and truth...who hunger and thirst after righteousness? (Matthew 5:6-Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.)
That just sounds great, does it not? Do you want to be there? Really wanting to be there is a most of this climb.( Proverbs 10:24- But the desire of the righteous will be granted.)
But what of those who, in truth, question in their hearts their real motives? The enemy riddles us with guilt of all kinds. His mind games are crippling if we give him a foothold. (Ephesians 4:27-and do not give the devil a foothold.)
Our existence--our conscious existence--our spiritual conscious existence--this separates us from the pigs and the monkeys. There is no dna in thought. God's existence transcends all that. The only reason that we think--the only reason for reason is the love of God for us, His creation.
God wants us to desire--just wants us to desire--God just wants us to want Him. If there is a spark of desire to know Him, (and if you read this, there is a spark at least) and His wonders, the enemy will do anything he can to muddy your reason.
Deny negative thought of our God. When it comes, tell it to go in the name of Jesus.
Do you see how opposite of the world is this one exercise? The TV has nothing but manifold God-opposites and we spend so much time allowing it to segregate our mind from Him. We have heard the word 'sequester' of late in the political news around our elections. Simply, this means to isolate or hide away.
The enemy seeks to sequester us from the influence of the Lord--to take captive our minds by subtle smothering.
2 Corinthians 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension ...
demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Demolition is hard and nasty work.
So, our task is to be fueled and strengthened by the Holy Spirit--to take the smallest of desires for God's righteousness and allow God to split that atom against the enemy and his war for our attention.
Focus and love...focus... love, laugh, rest, wait, seek God's goodness, desire God's kindness, deny doubt, reach for God's peace--focus on God's control of your heart...the Holy Spirit is all these things and is right there in your heart already...so obey-return to Him.
Malachi 3:7-Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD of Hosts.
...and our wandering will turn to wondering...
Isaiah 40:12
...Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand
... with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens
...Who has held the dust of the earth in a baskey
... or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance...
...because he loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Have mercy on me and open my ears to hear you constantly say, "Return to Me". Forgive me my sin of allowing doubt to take my heart into confusion.
