To Tell The Truth

Friday, February 2, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:   Luke 17:20 Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, 21 nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.

Memory verse: Romans 8:32 ►He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Today's reading: EXODUS 29-30 MATTHEW 21:23-46

To Tell The Truth

The Chief priests and teachers of the law tried to ignore the truth. They did all they could to discredit Jesus. Jesus would answer, "Have you not read...?" Yes, they had read-but ignored the truth.

They had read the writings since they had learned to read. It was all right there in front of them.

There was a Rabbi on the east coast whose job once was to discredit and debunk the Christian belief. After years of study and writing this man became a believer in Christ. He could not ignore the truth-it was right there in front of him.

Matthew 21:24 Jesus replied, “I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. 25 John’s baptism—where did it come from? Was it from heaven, or of human origin?”

They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn't you believe him?’ 26 But if we say, ‘Of human origin’—we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet.”

27 So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.”

But they did know-they ignored the truth.

You and I have heard this for years. They ignore the truth. There is always a chance that one will believe-maybe because of the way you act in kindness in the love of God-maybe because of the way you do not judge them-maybe. God will move through you.

You Know...the truth must be lived.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me for judging quickly. Let me look past the harsh words and into the heart as Jesus did. Teach me how to deal with the doubt around me as I live the truth that is before them all.

In Jesus' name,

Amen
