Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Jeremiah 15:19 ESV

Therefore thus says the Lord: “If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them.”

Verse of the day: Habakkuk 3:19

19 God, the Lord, is my strength;    he makes my feet like the deer's;    he makes me tread on my high places.

Jesus Is Our Measure

Matthew 22:37 “Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

“If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?” (John 14:7–9)

“If God were your Father, you would love me” (John 8:42).

If we don’t have Jesus, there is no way for us to know or love God and because Jesus is God, we love Him because we know Him as we know and love our Father in Heaven.

“No one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him” (Matt. 11:27)

If we reject Jesus, we have rejected God. “The one who rejects me rejects him who sent me” (Luke 10:16)

We cannot choose to love God. It is not a duty. Loving God is one of the ‘pleasures in His presence’(Psalm 116:11). God’s glory must be experienced in our own hearts.

We have to reject our human reservations-in other words-get over ourselves-our egos, etc.- and be vulnerable to our feelings. God is precious-ultimately precious-and feeling this only while knowing God in Christ brings a love in us for Him that out grows our love for any other.

When I read Matthew 22:37-40 for the first time it hit me like a truck. I had to stop right then and tell God I did not love Him like the Bible says I should but that I wanted to. God’s revelations of Himself to my heart have never ceased.

It may not hit you like a truck but I pray your desire to love God increases everyday.

Tell God where you are in your love for Him. Be honest. Ask Him to grow your desire to love Him in Christ as He says you should.

...because He loves us...He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

How very precious is Your name. Your kingdom will be done in me. Give me greater desire to love You more and more today. Forgive me for my reluctance. Deliver me from evil.

Great and mighty God and Father,

In Christ Jesus,

Amen
