Second Question

Thursday, January 2, 2025

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...

Verse of the Day: Psalm 90:12

12 Teach us to number our days

so we can have a wise heart.

Memory verse: Psalm 139:23–24 (ESV)

23  Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24  And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

Today's reading:  Genesis 4-6 Matthew 2

Second Question

Do you draw near to God?

James 4:8 "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded."

The question is, Why would we not draw near to God?

He should be everything to us. He has given us His son to be our substitute-to die in our place.(Romans 5:6-21) God did this so we could be reunited with Him because he completely loves us.

Do you draw near to God?

Our spiritual health depends completely on our spiritual habits. Because of His complete righteousness, God cannot empower us if we don't seek Him.

Think of it this way: there is a horizontal line-above it is where we live if we have habits that continually seek Him. It is His place for us. His place of growth and strength and joy-even and especially in the middle of the pain of this life.

Below the line is sadly where many are-powerless because they have not gone after the power(God Himself). If we don't put fuel in the car, we run out of gas out in the middle of nowhere-stranded.

Our filling station-our source of fuel for power is God.

Matthew 6:6 (ESV)

6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Do you draw near to God? Live above the line...make the effort to humble yourself and get close to God and He will be there always. He will not fail us ever.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Give me the urgency to hallow Your name. I want to know Your kingdom. Forgive me for not drawing near to You and lead me away from trying to ignore my ultimate need for You.

Intimate God who loves me completely,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
