Desire And Love

Saturday, ‎April ‎30, ‎2022

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Job 19:25

For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth;

Memory of the Month: Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Today's reading: 1 KINGS 8-9 LUKE 21:1-19

Desire and Love

Desire and love mean different things to different people.

For those who know the Son of God and have been born of His Spirit, God is love. Our purest desire is for God and His kingdom. Maintenance and consistency of this purest desire is hard-in this world of sin and depravity-but the scripture says that we will overcome.

1 John 5:4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcomes the world, even our faith.

Revelation 3:21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne.

But to the world without Him, desire and love are dark things. In the King James Bible, Luke 20:45-47, desire and love are both used to describe the behavior of those leaders who wanted Jesus dead.

Jesus spoke of their desire to look very important and then of their 'love' for a show of respect from the common people and their 'love' for places of honor at important functions.

Then Jesus says, "They cheat widows out of their homes and the try to cover it up by saying long prayers."

He says one thing to finish, "Their condemnation(or judgment or punishment) will be greater."

Jesus could have said, "There is a special place in hell for these"--like we do in our time- but He did not say that.

But that is the job of God-He is judge-not us in our time.

The message here is that even though Jesus tells us to watch out for this type who desires and loves as the world does, we cannot get caught in the desire and love to judge them. If they are lost they need a savior and we have a savior for them in Christ.

So, desire and love to judge them or love them and desire to see them saved?

Life is full of choices...

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven, Lord God,

Increase my faith that I may work on to be victorious in You and for You-not for me and not for this world. I want to walk in Your peace and mercy in victory.

Great and kind God of peace!

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
