...But Listen

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: James 4:10

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

Memory of the Month: 2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Today's reading: EXODUS 14-15 MATTHEW 17

It Is Good...But Listen

Matthew 17:17 After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. 3 Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.

4 Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”

5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”

It was good for them to be there. God did not dispute that. What He said was, "Listen to Him".

When we pray, how much do we listen or do we just talk all the time; do we pay attention to what God is saying to our hearts?

It is very good to be in the presence of God. There is nothing better. We are to do as Jesus did and find that solitary place and be in our Father's presence.

Philippians 4:6 ►Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

So, don't be anxious. Be still when you are in the presence of God. Relax. It is not like having to wait to see the doctor for a month and then when you get in there you have only a few minutes.

Sit, think, listen. Tell God what's on your mind. It's not like He doesn't know it all. God wants to erase any and all difficulty you have in His presence or any difficulty you have getting into His presence. God wants you and me to be at peace in His presence. He wants us to hear what Peter, James, and John heard Jesus say, “Rise, and have no fear.”

It is good to be with God alone and often. But, He is with you all the time-talk to Him--and listen.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me when I find excuses for not coming into Your presence. Give me a desire to be with You as much as I can. Teach me to be silent and listen to Your heart.

“Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods?

Who is like you, majestic in holiness,

awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
