A Need To Hear

Monday, October 28, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...

Verse of the Day:  1 Peter 1:24-25

24 for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, 25 but the word of the Lord remains forever.” And this word is the good news that was preached to you.

Memory verse: Psalm 42:2(New American Bible )

"My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I enter and see the face of God?"

Today's reading:   Jeremiah 18-19 2 Timothy 3

A Need to Hear

We hear it all the time, "This is on a need to know basis", implying if one needs to know, they will be told. If not, well...

God's word is on a need to know basis and we all need to know. The entire world is in need of the word of our eternal God-and God has made the word available. It is not hidden from anyone. In fact, Jesus told us to go into all the world and make disciples of God and His infallible word.

We need to know-we need to know-we must know. From time to time, it is good to be reminded of this plain fact and this struck me as I read 2 Timothy, chapter 3

1 "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power."

I am writing to you, today-anyone who has ears to hear. Listen to what Paul says to Timothy and, therefore, we believe what God says to us all about our everyday life and our seeking God and His kingdom:

12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of...the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Our question for the one we see in the mirror: "Am I doing all I can to, first, seek God for His mission for me and, second, to be thoroughly equipped for all God has for me to do?

Ask God what He wants you to do and stop listening to the world. Live in God's 'need to hear' kingdom.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

I seek Your name and Your glory so I may speak in joy of Your kingdom in my life. Give me direction and bread for today. Forgive me my being tangled in all that mankind has tried to add to what God has done. Lead me away from 'man-made' religious 'stuff'.

God of plain truth and calm attitudes,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
