Yes, It Matters

Friday, ‎March ‎31, ‎2023

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: John 13:13-15 "You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you."

Memory of the Month: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Today's reading: JUDGES 11-12 LUKE 6:1-26

Yes, It Matters

Does it really matter what the great scriptural teachers of this or any day say? Yes, it matters, of course, but today we have some very dangerous teachings and we all must be vigilant in trying all these things by the truth of scripture.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 ►but test them all; hold on to what is good,

What does the scripture say? This is always our foundation-our bottom line.

Jesus taught us a very simple prayer to show us how to pray-what should be in a prayer.

Humbling opening; Our father in heaven

Recognizing God's holiness-hallowed be thy name

Personal desire for righteousness-thy kingdom come, thy will be done

Recognition and request of God's provision and forgiveness- Give us this day...and forgive us as we forgive

THERE IT IS...forgive us our trespasses, debts, sins.

No matter what anyone says, Jesus told us to pray for forgiveness.

Yes, He died once for all. Yes, He has washed us clean once for all. But just try praying without confessing your sins before God and what happens? You carry it with you and and when we pray,

1 John 3:20 If our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts, and He knows all things. 21 Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God

He knows all things and Jesus said for us to confess our sins.(Really BIG period.)

We need to empty out our conscience before God so that our hearts do not condemn us(so we do not feel guilty).

Just beware of teachers who add to or take away from scripture as it is recorded and pray the way Jesus taught us to pray. Always make it your own even if you quote it from memory like I do-sometimes over and over thinking about each word-then make His prayer your own.

Listen to the scripture and what God says to you. If you hear something from a teacher that does not sound right, get the scripture out and dig and pray. Ask a respected teacher you know to help if you need help. Talk about it and pray about it.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 ►but test them all; hold on to what is good,

Proverbs 11:14 Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in abundance of counselors there is victory.

People can teach us how to study. They can teach us how to work. Only Jesus can teach us how to pray and only you and God can meet in your private place-no one can go there with you.

Just get there...

...because He loves us...

Our Father in Heaven,

Mighty God, let obedience be my way as you provide today. And forgive me my failures as I live forgiving.

Lead me away from sin and the enemy.

Great, never-changing God of mercy and forgiveness!

In Jesus name,

Amen
