Willing To Rest

Monday, October 7, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 63:1

63 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

Memory verse: Psalm 42:2(New American Bible )

"My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I enter and see the face of God?"

Today's reading: Isaiah 30-31 Philippians 4

Willing To Rest

Isaiah 30:15 "For the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said: “By repentance and rest you would be saved; your strength would lie in quiet confidence— but you were not willing.”

This verse jumped out at me as I was reading Isaiah 30 so when I finished, I went back and opened up this one verse in the interlinear(Biblehub, please check it out.)

The Lord speaks to Israel(and to us) about attitude toward Him when it reads, 'repentance and rest'. When we run from God or when we ignore Him, we lie to ourselves about our guilt. In doing so, we use our will to do away with humility. We must take that captive and return to Him in humility. Throw pride to the side and fall on our faces. This is finding divine rest before God and this is where we rest in His victory over sin in us.

Then God further explains, "...your strength would lie in quiet confidence..."

Trusting God in the stillness-Trusting in our God of peace is where God builds our strength.

1 Corinthians 14:33

"for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints."

The chaos and confusion steals our peace because we choose to let it happen. We choose by not being conscious of God. We choose by letting the worries of this life storm in and push peace out.

The Lord says, "...but you are not willing."

God speaks to our will-what we 'will' our minds to do depends on what our hearts and minds are trained on-on how we train our minds to work.

The question for us all is: "Do we want victory by God's hand-do we want it badly enough to humble ourselves and let God shower us with His strength while we rest in His peace and learn to trust Him with our complete life?? Do we really want to know full satisfaction with and in God?

Yes.

Put in the work of returning to God in humility and repent. He will do the rest.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Your name is peace, rest, and power. Show me Your kingdom. I return to You for bread for today. Forgive me for my fighting against the truth of my weaknesses and the truth of victory in You.

God of all peace and strength,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
