Who Do You Want To Believe?

Sunday, May 12,2024

  Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Ephesians 4:32

And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Memory verse: Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Today's reading: 2 KINGS 17-18 JOHN 3:19-36

Who Do You Want To Believe?

The enemy is constantly bombarding us with negative thoughts. This starts when we are young and impressionable. We care not to place blame on anyone else. Everyone, at some point, has to take full responsibility for actions and reactions. If we don't we live a lie.

From that young age, we either learn how to not listen to the negative or we fall prey to it and the consequences-all different for each person.

We have to know that God is positive and His word for us is always positive. The reason that may sound contrary to some things you may have thought, read, or even been taught is because the enemy is contrary to God's truth-God is contrary to sin-always.

Here is only a sample of what God says about us(you:)

Galatians 3:

26 For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through faith. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female—for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to the promise.

Zechariah 2:8 And this is what the Lord All-Powerful said:

“If anyone even touches you, it is as if they did it to the pupil of my eye."

That means you are God's central focus-yes, it does-don't listen to the negative thoughts   from the enemy-you are, in Christ Jesus, an heir to all God's promises and you are the 'apple'(pupil-yes, that is where this comes from) of God's eye.

If the enemy touches you, it is as if he is poking God in the eye. Of course, he can't hurt God -it is God's illustration of how serious His love is for us-you.

Once more-take the negative thought captive.

2 Corinthians 10:5

5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Who are you going to believe? The one who is stupid enough to poke God in the eye-(really?)or the one, God, who has you(and all the elect) as His primary focus?

This is a tool to combat negative thought. Tools must be used and maintained. Pray-read His Holy Word-meditate on our Holy God-seek our Righteous Father-and learn to rejoice at being the apple of God's eye always.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me for letting the enemy get in with negative thoughts. Thank you for Your loving focus on me. Teach me how to let You lift me above the negative,oh, patient Lord.

God of all kindness to me and us all,

In the name of Christ,

Amen
