  Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.—1 Timothy 4:14-15

Memory verse: Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Today's reading: 1 KINGS 21-22 LUKE 23:26-56

Victory

As much as the young man fought and worked and studied...as much as he tried as hard as he could, he could not get his team to win the title. This was years ago, not now. This is a scenario that has repeated itself over and over.

In Shakespeare's 'Julius Caesar', Caesar said, "Beware the ides of March. (Julius Caesar Act I), ... Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look; he thinks too much: such men are dangerous."

Such men might have been dangerous to Caesar but I have thought of that lean and hungry look many times since I first read it some 40-odd years ago. Having a lean and hungry heart is not a bad thing if the heart hungers for the right thing.

Matthew 5:6- Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Hunger and thirst crosses all age and socio-economic boundaries; it crosses all oceans and land masses. The world hungers and thirsts and seems to have no direction.

Isaiah 55:1 "Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

John 4:14 -"but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst".

Do you hunger and thirst for the perfect things of God in Christ? The more time we spend with God, the more we will want.

He is waiting...

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

I do not hunger the way the scripture says. I want to want more and more of Your righteousness.

Patient and kind God,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
