Until The Day Of Christ

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:   Philippians 1:6

"being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;"

Memory verse: Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Today's reading: PSALM 4-6 ACTS 17:16-34

Until The Day Of Christ

Why Psalm 90:14? Why was it so important for God to have Moses pray a prayer fog us to be satisfied with God's love-in the morning-for all our days to be joyful and glad?

First, human nature will continually seek to be satisfied. The word 'sate' means to fill or fulfill-a full feeling. The human nature wants to be full-full belly-full heart-mind full of peace and security. Human beings have worked for this for all time and it continues. Remember the first hit song from The Rolling Stones and how popular it was? "I can't get no satisfaction"?

That pretty much says it. Human nature, try as it does, will never reach a point of being fully and permanently satisfied-this is impossible.

But, again, with God, all things are possible(Matthew 19:26 and Luke 1:37). God wants us to know that He will fully satisfy us.

"but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”, John 4:14.

Psalm 90:14 sounds like a good morning prayer but what about praying it at bedtime? "Lord, wake me up satisfied in the morning"? Looking forward to awakening fully conscious of the glory of the Lord is a glorious start to the day. It gets no better than that.

Have you ever cheered for your team or favorite contestant? The moment of victory causes cheers of celebration-the ride home is in gladness. That is the idea of rejoicing and being glad but in God's kingdom, it does not stop.

"Your kingdom come"...remember?

God wants us to live in His reality-not just without sin but without sin in divine celebration-satisfaction.

If we 'can't get no satisfaction', it is because we are looking in the wrong place and to the wrong people.

Hebrews 12:2 "looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross,"

Jesus has set the joy not just before us but within us.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Your name is the highest of all. Lead me to glory in You as You are glorified Heaven. I fully depend on Your bread today. Forgive me my weak faith and lead me into the challenges-the battles are Yours.

Mighty and glorious God of Joy,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
