Too Many Authorities

Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...
Verse of the Day: 2 Samuel 7:22
22 Therefore you are great, O Lord God. For there is none like you, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
Memory verse: Psalm 42:2(New American Bible )
"My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I enter and see the face of God?"
Today's reading: Isaiah 47-49 1 Thessalonians 4
Too Many Authorities.
Isaiah 47:13 You are worn out with all your consultations —
so let the astrologers and stargazers,
the monthly horoscope-makers,
come forward now and save you
from the things that will come upon you!
If we take only the first line of this passage:"You are worn out with all your consultations...", we all need to hear this. There is so much information available to us to day so easy to get in the habit of clicking it on and listening. The is a psychological security in being focused in on something that sounds 'godly and prudent' and getting all the news.
But the question for me is always, "Have I spent more time listening to God or to Godly men(or men who appear to be Godly)?
I heard a man speak on a reputable 'christian' TV show one time from the west coast and was impressed with his words, his spirit, and presentation and one week later I hear him again. He was speaking in a place on the east coast. He said exactly the same words-same cadence-same choreographed movements-and the same plea for funds. I had not prayed over what I was watching.
That sounds immediatelty wierd to some of you. But if we don't pray over what we watch and know God is in whatever it is, the ones we hear might as well be the "astrologers and stargazers, the monthly horoscope-makers"(Isaiah 47).
Yes, I believe it is that serious. Would God have me listen to a newscaster full of hate just because he was on the 'right channel'? Well, then neither would God want me to listen to all the teachers just because they are on the 'right channel' or the best web site.
We must try all things...
1 John 4:1 ►Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
My test is this: After I hear a speaker, have I been ecouraged by the Spirit to dig deeper into God's kingdom-to seek God more-to love Him more--or--have I been whipped up into an emotional state over the the war 'over there'.
The war is right here-over lost souls. You are not 'over there'. You are here-wherever you are is here-listen to God while it is today.
If you are not full of God, what are you full of? TBN-Fox News-The latest and greatest on the internet?
God himself said, "This is my SON-listen to Him"-Luke 9:35.
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Fill me with all I can hold about your name and Your kingdom so I may praise You more. Forgive me my wickedness. Lead me away from self pity.
He who flies above it all while being in the midst of it with us,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
