Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Jeremiah 15:19 ESV

Therefore thus says the Lord: “If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them.”

Verse of the day:  Isaiah 12:4

4 And you will say in that day “Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted.

Today’s Reading: Job 30-31 Acts 13:26-52

Run After God

Jesus said, “ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them”(Matthew 6:32).

I sometimes hear a question in some of the things that Jesus says. In Matthew 6:32, I hear Jesus ask, “Why do you run after the same things the unbelieving lost run after?”

We must run after God and His provision in His absolute life for us. We waste so much time grinding after what the world says we need. How much time do we spend running after God who offers everything we need?

I have used this many times before-how much time do you spend, in an average, feeding your body in a day’s time? From the time you start to prepare a meal or pull up to a ‘drive through’ until you leave what is left to the trash or the sink, 3 meals a day, about 1 and ½ hours? Probably. Your body lives this finite one lifetime.(Chasing the world always comes wrapped in worry.)

How much time do you spend feeding and allowing the Holy Scripture and Holy Spirit to feed your soul-which lives for eternity?

This is different for all. But I can never spend enough time chasing after God-seeking Him and His kingdom and His righteousness-can you? Some may not like the word ‘chasing’ but I think we need to seek God with more energy than we use chasing for worldly things.

Confess your chasing after the world. Just lay it out there before God and yourself. Let yourself honestly see it all.

Then, tell God you want your life to be different. Tell God you want to feel a great need to use your energy to seek and serve and obey Him.

...because He loves us...He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

I must hallow Your name-give me the desire and inner energy to seek You and Your kingdom and Your righteousness for today and the desire to keep going tomorrow. Forgive me for chasing the world. Lead me away from the world’s desire.

Holy and gracious God,

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
