To Rejoice In The Lord
Thursday, November 7, 2024
Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my hope. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...
Verse of the Day: 1 Timothy 2:1-2
2 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
Memory verse: Psalm 42:2(New American Bible )
"My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I enter and see the face of God?"
Today's reading: Jeremiah 43-45 Hebrews 5
To Rejoice In The Lord
Philippians 4:4 "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice."
The Word says for us to rejoice in the Lord-always. To me, this means always and only to rejoice in the Lord.
If we have good fortune in business, it has come by the hand of the Lord or it is not good fortune-it is just more 'filthy lucre'(Titus 1:12 KJV). So, we must take no pride in personal accomplishment, but give that pride-or praise- to God for His mercies in our lives.
Our homes, our children-every good and perfect gift is from God-our God-maker of Heaven and earth.
James 1:17 ►"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
When an enemy falls, what do we do? Deep in our hearts, what do we feel? What do we say with our mouths?
Proverbs 24:17 ►"Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice, 18 or the LORD will see and disapprove..."
When you win a game of checkers, just simply be satisfied that you won-don't be glad at the misfortune of your opponent.
When Job was defending his innocence, he said,
"If I have rejoiced in my enemy's ruin, or gloated when evil befell him..."--Job 31:29
Jesus said in Matthew 5:48,44, "Be perfect as Your Father in Heaven is perfect...(and)love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."
Speak not judgement against those who do not win and bring judgement on yourself.
"Let your gentleness be evident to all, the Lord is near"( Philippians 4:5).
Always be humble and kind and let your praises rise to the heart of God.
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Hallowed is Your most high name. Let Your kingdom be real in my heart and give me what I need for Your purposes today and forgive me for wasting time. Lead me away from lethargy and judgement.
Gentle and generous God,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
