The Power

Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth.

The Power
Have you ever met anyone famous? I met the second President Bush when he was running for Texas governor. I met Governor Rick Perry on the floor of the 'house' in Austin. Both encounters left me disappointed and not impressed. Why?
When I was seven, our family went to the state fair in Dallas. 'Big Tex' was really big. A few years later I went back and Big Tex did not seem so huge. He was, after all, just a big wire frame covered mostly in fabric.
People are just bone frames covered in skin. They only achieve greatness when the public says they are great and that can be stripped away with one bad word from an enemy.
Real power comes from one source. Almighty God.
Some would say, "Mankind is so advanced that we have the power to destroy the earth!" (Now that is a real point of pride...)
But---does mankind have the power to save the earth? While we can improve the quality of Life a little, We cannot save the planet.... but there will always be some who die trying to prove we can.
For God so loved the world, He gave His only son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
We could have used many more impressive scriptures but we only need this one-this simple little, well known passage.
The old song says, "It don't matter who's in Austin, Bob Wills is still the king..."
It does not matter who's in Moscow or Washington or the U.N., Jesus is still the real king with all the power-the ultimate power-motivated by love.
...love for us...
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Forgive me my anxiety over politics and climate. You are the only real power. Give me a hunger for You and not the world.
God of power and might in Love,
