The Humility Of Christ
Saturday, January 18, 2025
Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...
Verse of the Day: 1 Corinthians 10:13
13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure.
Memory verse: Psalm 139:23–24 (ESV)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24 And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!
Today's reading: Genesis 43-45 Matthew 12:24-50
The Humble Mind Of Christ
It is hard to think about being transformed into the image of Christ Jesus. The mind of natural mankind-the sin living in us-will not want this and will argue its very possibility. The mind of Christ(1 Corinthians 2:16) knows that it is not only a possibility but a guarantee to the heart that is obedient to God's word.
One of the greatest reasons the natural mind fights against this truth is these words that Jesus said:
Matthew 20:26 "Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave."28 "just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
How hard is it for you to want to serve-to wash the feet of-someone you feel is 'beneath' you? Jesus was greater than all but washed the feet of the disciples-Judas was one of them.
To me, this is the ultimate-to wash the feet of the person that I knew would do something that would lead to my death.
Yes, I know...this will never happen to us. But what if it did? What would you do? How could it be done? Yes, this is the extreme. But what about things that do happen in this life?
How is your mind toward serving people who would do anything to see you fail? This is the mind of Christ-to serve these people.
This sounds impossible but we all know people who do not like us or who are opposed to the way we believe.
Philippians 2:3 (ESV)
3 "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves."
This is0 hard to consider-really hard-this will take much time to pray through-much prayer-much searching.
1 Peter 5:6-7 "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
Humility is a deep work of God. Ask God to do this work in you.
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Your name is so far above all my shallow understanding. My obedience falls so short. I need Your bread more than ever. Forgive me for being so weak. Lead me away from lies.
Gracious and merciful Father,
In the name of Jesus,
Amen
