Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”
Verse of the day: Galatians 5:13
13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
Today’s reading: 1 Chronicles 16-18 John 7:28-53
Perception And Surrender
If I ever find ourselves in an impossible situation, I believe it is because of my lack of surrender existing in my shallow perception of my God.
He is our Father who gave the life of His only son for us. I never had to ask my imperfect earthly father to fight for me-why should I have to ask my perfect Heavenly Father to fight for me?
Well, if I had caused the trouble myself, I either would try to get out of it myself or I had to bite the bullet and tell my Dad what I had done, suffer the consequences, and then shamefully ask Him to help-and he would do all he could. If my trouble was not my doing, my Dad would always step in-if he knew.
There is the problem. We think of God in an earthly way. If we have gotten ourselves into trouble, we try to handle it in our own way because it was sinful to begin with. We do not like to admit we are wrong or we did not consult with God to begin with.
David had won many battles. They sang songs of what a great warrior he was. But in 1 Samuel 23, the Philistines were attacking the threshing floor and stealing grain in Keilah. 2 David asked the Lord, “Should I go and attack them?”“Yes, go and save Keilah,” the Lord told him.
David’s army was afraid and so, 4 So David asked the Lord again, and again the Lord replied, “Go down to Keilah, for I will help you conquer the Philistines.”
David asked, “Should I go?” He did not ask God to help Him. He wanted to know if it was God’s will for him to go. God said, “I will help you win.” David obeyed and won the battle.
Three things: 1) If you have sinned-for the sake of God’s Name-confess and ask for help
2) Learn to depend on your perfect Heavenly Father. Ask God before you move. He goes before us.(Deuteronomy 1:30 “The Lord your God who goes before you will Himself fight on your behalf...”)3) God knows beforehand. He does not have to be told of your troubles. If you are in His will, it is His battle. He is always a step ahead. When we live consciously before God, we are talking to God about it anyway-if not, get in front of God.
God never leaves us. We ‘leave’ Him. We lose focus-go to sleep-NO, we cannot be more than conquerors asleep.
Wake up.
...because He loves us...He walks ahead of us…
Father in Heaven,
Great God of greatest fame, Your kingdom come and I surrender to Your will. This day I depend on only You for all things. Forgive me for going to sleep. Lead me away from unconscious living.
Father who fights all my righteous battles,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
