Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Joshua 1:9
9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Verses of the day-Mark 9:50 “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other.”
Today’s reading: Numbers 29-31 Mark 9:1-29
To Really ‘Live’
Some of us live such comfortable lives. Yes, I know we get older and forget the struggles and hardship and some of us endure a lot of pain. But our lives are relatively easy compared to countries torn by conflict.
The question we should ask ourselves in the mirror in the presence of God is , “How do I really live?”
We can just sit back and enjoy the comfort but that would be willful disobedience.
We are commanded to:
> wage good warfare: 1 Timothy 1:18 (ESV)
18 This charge I entrust to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with the prophecies previously made about you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,
(How do we do that?)
> We are commanded to resist the devil.
James 4:7 (ESV)
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
(Submitting to God means that we die to self, Luke 9:23, and let God have control. This has to be practiced daily.)
> We are commanded to strive for holiness.
Hebrews 12:14 (ESV)
14 Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
> We are commanded to put to death the sinful acts of the body.
Romans 8:13 (ESV)
13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
There it is. You will really live if you live in obedience to the Holy Scripture.
There is a lifetime of lessons and growing in these commands to us and it all comes down to desire. Do you want to really live or just sit back and coast in your comfort?
The devil works to lull you into complacency.
God works in us to raise us up.
Philippians 2:13 “...for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”
Do you want to coast or really live? Tell God the truth and ask Him to work His power in your life.
...because He loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Plant desire in my heart to glorify You. Let me realize your kingdom in me. Give me today what I need and the resolve to use it. Forgive me for being lazy and just coasting. Lead me away from this evil.
Patient Father,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
