The Cry Of The True Heart

Thursday, August 8, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:   John 8:7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”

Memory verse: Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Today's reading: Psalm 77-78 Romans 10

The Cry Of The True Heart

1 Corinthians 12:3 (ESV)

3 "...and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit."

Romans 8:15–16 (ESV)

15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

I want us to hear the Spirit speak to each of us in these scriptures. It is true that there are imposters who would act like they know God for whatever reason. Jesus warned us about these:

Matthew 7:15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves."

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Out of these verses, I want us to hear these things:

Shouting "Abba! Father!" and saying"Jesus is Lord" can be said by any unbeliever, but, only the believer who is seeking and working to do the will of God in Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit can truthfully say "Jesus is Lord".

Only the urging of the Holy Spirit in our hearts will we cry out, "Abba! Father!".

People can fake almost anything. Actors on stage and screen can make us believe almost anything.

Only a believer, chosen by God, will truly cry out to her or his heavenly Father in secret by the presence of the Holy Spirit.

"Jesus is Lord" can only be said in truth by the believer who is filled with the Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit believers cry out in truth. They testify in truth. They seek to do God's will for His glory.

What is this about? So many doubt so many things.

If you are crying out to God from deep in your heart in your darkest times of doubt or in times of trouble-the enemy cannot erase the truth-you cry to Your Father in His Spirit. When you cry "Lord Jesus", The Holy Spirit cries out through you.

We, the chosen, are marked and inhabited by the Holy Spirit and when we cannot cry out, He does.

Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

The Holy Spirit is the cry of the true heart.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Your name is above all because You created all. Your kingdom I seek. Forgive me for yielding to doubt. You are my truth and my bread.

Boundless Father, endless Spirit,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
