The 'Contents'
Sunday, February 9, 2025
Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 139:23–24 (ESV)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24 And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!
Verse of the Day: 2 Thessalonians 3 We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.
Daily Reading: Leviticus 6-7 Matthew 25:1-30
The ‘Contents’
This is a play on words, I guess, but ‘contents’ for us today will not mean ‘what’s in the box’ as contents of the box but the opposite of ‘malcontents’.
So, I ask the question: “Are you a ‘content’ or a malcontent?”
Are you the first to find something wrong with ‘whatever’? You may answer, “No, and I don’t like being around those people”.
I don’t think any of us would say we like being around ‘malcontents’ who complain most of the time.
Proverbs 17:22 ~ A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
But I want us to examine to what level we are content...
I purpose that our level of contentment is based on our enjoyment and delight in God-not of God-but in God.
Psalm16: 11You will show me the path of life;In Your presence is fullness of joy;At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
We must do all we can do to find ourselves in the presence of God and there, and only there, will we be content.
So, Are you content or are you ‘mal’-content”
Only you can answer and only you can find the answer in God’s presence where there are pleasures forevermore.
In God’s presence, there is fullness of joy.
Where are you?
...because He loves us…
Father in Heaven,
Your name is fullness of joy. Your kingdom is perfection. My obedience is weak-forgive me my bad effort and weak desire. Give me Your bread to seek You with all my heart today. Lead me away from fear.
Kind, gracious and awesome God,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
