The Blessing

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Ephesians 2:19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,

Memory of the Month: Proverbs 15:1-A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Today's reading: PSALM 129-131 1 CORINTHIANS 11:1-16

The Blessing, Life Evermore

One of or 'memory of the month' passages was:

"I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living." Psalm 27:13

What comes to mind when you hear yourself say these words? With all the testing of this life, our confidence sometimes gets thin. It is hard to see the goodness of the Lord if we are not looking. So we must be stubborn in our resolve to continue to look past our trials and trouble and see what God is really doing in our lives.

Psalm 133 ends with these words: "For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore."

Do we ask for the Lord to bless us and then wait for the rain to fall on our crops only to become negative when the drought continues or do we really thank God for the rain He will bring? Do we really believe God will bring the rain?

Years of drought have come to this part of the country with no physical yield but the people still remain and keep working. Is it the physical blessing that yields life?

Do the rains bring life evermore? Does prosperity forge us into the people God wants us to be? Does success fill us with real joy and peace?

I maintain the happiness in the good times is so worldly and temporary. It passes from us when the money is gone-when the market crashes-when human beings disappoint.

But God has commanded the blessing: Life evermore.

Life evermore is the blessing. That life is to be known now. This blessing is the undercurrent of the life in Christ Jesus. When the ground is parched and crops fail, life evermore never stops flowing. With each flop or failure, God blesses us with grace.

James 4:6 ►But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble."

With each loss or change in life we go through grief. But the undercurrent of life evermore tells us this:

"...that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope." 1 Thessalonians 4:13

We go to bed broken and tired but:

22Because of the loving devotion of the LORD we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail. 23They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness! Lamentations 3

We have in us through Christ Jesus to learn to look for the blessing of the undercurrent. The part that cannot be seen or physically sensed is the blessing of life. We learn through the trials to believe God for each moment and say:

“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.”…Lamentations 3

and,

"I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living." Psalm 27

See this with your heart and feel it in your soul. God will never stop loving you and never stops blessing you with Life evermore. God always continues. He never stops. He is relentless in His love for us.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me for allowing myself to become downcast. I will see your blessings with my heart. Thank You for Life evermore!

Merciful and loving God!

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
