Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:   We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. (1 John 3:14)

Memory verse: Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Today's reading: JOB 20-21 ACTS 10:24-48

The Available Holy Spirit

We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. (1 John 3:14)

So where does this 'love' come from? It comes from the heart of God, of course, and is present always because of the Holy Spirit living in our hearts.

Hebrews 12:14 ►Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.

Holiness is purity-not purity as the world understands it but 'holy' purity-purity that is ours or is available to us in the Holy Spirit.

I use the word 'available' because nothing is 'automatic' or comes naturally. This brings us back to the basic 'seeking' of God;(Matthew 6:33)

In His grace God delivers all we need. We find whatever we need when we go to our secret place with God and seek Him. He reveals to us-first in His living word and then in His divine power-how to live a loving life-how to live a pure existence(how to be holy).

But we must return to Him. No, we cannot do anything on our own. Each step we take must be in obedience and dependence on Him.

The most simple Bible verse is the most profound.

John 15:5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing."

We learn to abide in Him by returning to our secret-our most intimate place with Him. God has gifted us with all we need. But available gifts must be unwrapped and utilized. We do not know how to even unwrap what He has given us until we go to Him constantly-but going to Him-seeing Him is first.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Mighty God of all provision and love-make me holy as I learn to love you and love in Your love. Your bread I must have. Forgive me for trying to do things by my own power.

Gracious and Holy God,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
