Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:  Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Memory verse: Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Today's reading:   EZRA 3-5 JOHN 20

Teach us to Pray#2

“Lord, teach us to pray.” (Luke 11:1)

Our entire prayer life will depend on how deeply we involve our hearts and minds in the first line of the Lord's prayer in Luke 11:2-4-"Hallowed is Your name"                                                        -or, as we said in our own words, "Your divine Holiness consumes me with awe".

How God's Holiness consumes us will govern how serious we are when we pray. Yes, our needs may drive us to desperate prayer, but how glorious God is to us-(I believe)how precious He is to us generates the trust with which we pray.

Yesterday, we asked the question, "From where comes our 'awe'?, followed by a suggested prayer. That is number one on my list. Pray for a greater awareness of God's Glory.

Number two is: spend time in the word. No, do not just read it-do as much as you can to live in it. Read, yes, but also meditate on it and memorize it-treasure it.The written word is what God has had recorded of His heart-God breathed it and inspired the hands that wrote it and made a way for it to make it to us in written form. It must be viewed as the most precious writing we have in our possessions. We must do all we can to make it as precious in our 'memories' as we can.

Living the abundant life in Christ cannot be done by following a list of duties. It is not like earthly life where we get up, brush our teeth, shower and abide by the laws of the land and civilization.

In the beginning of our walk with the Lord, it needs to be developed as habit, yes, pray, read your Bible, memorize, meditate, etc. But this must evolve into a precious sustenance-a consuming desire to be in God's presence.

The longer we persist in seeking God and His kingdom, the more we will feel God's gravity-like we are held down on this earth-we start to feel God pull us up to Him. His love for us is that pull.

Our Heavenly Father-how great is Your love for us-Your love lifts us from this miry clay of a world to this place of Your glory!

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive my holding back-my reservations to being consumed by Your glory. I want to know as much as You want me to.

Our God who rides above it all.

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
