What would happen if you could see every word you speak like the 'closed caption' on the television? Think about those implications...
I have often thought that if they took foul language out of the oil field, the folks could not speak. But what if we took all talk of personalities and politics out of everyday conversations along with profanity of all types? I guess there would be a lot of talk about the weather...
Philippians 4:8 ►Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
Philippians 4:8 says 'think about such things'. What if we used that verse to shape our conversations?
1 Peter 4:11 ►If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God.
Philippians 4:5 ►Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
Proverbs 16 1The plans of the heart belong to man, but the reply of the tongue is from the LORD.
Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. (Psalm 141:3)
Does what we say bring good pleasure to our Lord?
Proverbs 21:23 Watch your words and hold your tongue;
you’ll save yourself a lot of grief.
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
My tongue is sometimes foul. Please forgive me my wicked thoughts that shape my words. Help me to sharpen my focus on you.
