Security
The opposite of confidence is reservation (from the dictionary).(reluctance-from the enemy)
If you have any reservation for reading God's word, this is the opposite of confidence. Reservation, then, must be a thought that must be taken captive. We cannot go down that road-but wait-countless Christians are on that road. They find reasons to not read God's word. They don't have time or they cannot find a translation that they like or the print is too small. Stop---excuses--all excuses for not seeking to know God in His word. The same applies to prayer and meditation or fasting or worshipping...
As we seek God and 'all these other things' are being added, one thing that grows is our confidence or security. I speak not of the security of the believer. All of us in Christ have the eternal security promised us in scripture.
John 10:28-29
and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
The security we speak of is the security we know and walk in each day. The security and confidence that God has control over what happens to us spiritually. Security for us comes from seeking God with our whole hearts.
Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
"When you seek me"-when- a really big word here. Reservation steals our 'when'. Reservation is sin and rebellion against God. We must call it what it is: rebellion.
Excuses or reservation(reluctance) are rebellion-blatant sin.
How can we ignore God's vast storehouse of peace and strength? How can we ignore God's endless love for us. How can we walk about in this life so insecure? I hear so often: "God's got this!" and I wonder, "Do they really believe that or are they trying to convince themselves"?
Big problem: God will divinely convince us-God will divinely teach us and empower us-we can do none of this on our own.
We cannot live a sinless life without Him. We cannot live in His power without Him. We will know no security and confidence until we are surrendered to His will.
We will have a load of excuses and reservations(reluctance)-sin-until we turn from this life of insecurity and confess it and allow God to fill our lives with His security.
Governments come and go. Many make changes to 'take freedoms away' from worshippers of our true God. Please hear this: No power on earth can take away what we do before God. No power on earth can stop our hearts from talking to God and hearing God and nothing can take away the peace Jesus gives us. No power can remove us from God's hand. This is our security if and 'when' we seek God with our whole hearts.
Right now, get out of your reservations. Turn your back on your sin of making excuses. Take up your cross and die to your insecurities. This is God's common sense.

Father in Heaven,
Have mercy on me! I confess my reservations to seeking You with my whole heart. I want to know You and the power of the resurrection and the fellowship of Your suffering!
