Good morning, Lord

Rivers Of Oil

We have looked at Micah 6:8 before:

Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O mankind, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?…

The verse just before that has a great statement for our time: 7 Would the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I present my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

What shall mankind do to wipe out the guilt for the sins of the soul?

They could give great herds of cattle.

They could build great structures to the sky where they come once a week to structure worship services and try to please God with all the show.

What shall mankind do to wipe out the guilt for the sins of the soul?

Shall we bring rivers of oil? More oil is being discovered all the time but the question is what to do with it. Humans will simply burn it up as they churn out whatever it takes to satisfy the current desires of the race. Operative word is 'desire'.

Rivers of oil will never solve the problem of sin guilt. God made the oil-He owns it-He does not 'want it back'-it is His.

Sin guilt can never be taken away with anything in creation. We need to understand this. God made it all. All of creation is substance. Substance will not do it.

God planned the payment for our sins and it was the sacrifice of the perfect lamb-Christ. What human-kind does with this certainty is a choice of free-will.

The human race has burned up one trillion barrels of oil in all of history. There are an estimated 3 trillion barrels in the Green River shale deposits of Colorado, alone.

There are rivers of oil and all of it is not worth one drop of the blood that Jesus shed on the cross for our sins. But, there are rivers of living water.

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Proverbs 14:27 ►The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death.

Rivers of oil or rivers of living water from the fountain of life-one you can touch, own, trade, buy and sell-the other is untouchable-but it is believable.

John 20:31 ►But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

There are no rivers of oil in Heaven...

...but eternal living water...

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me for trying to be good. You are the only one good. Teach me to trust You for the good in my life-all of it.

Merciful and kind God of faithfulness.
