Good morning, Lord
Verse of the Day: John 8:31-32
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Memory verse: Romans 8:32 ►He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
Today's reading: GENESIS 39-40 MATTHEW 11
Real Strength
Prove or disprove this statement:
"In our life in Christ , our greatest strength is found in our deepest humility."
James 4:10
10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
We will never honor God by lifting ourselves up before the world. In humility before God, God lifts us up where He wants us for His greatest praise and pleasure.
Yes, our God is the God of the Old Testament with His ultimately frightening power-but-in His complete love, He wants us to know His heart which we know as the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23:
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.(then it says, "Against such things there is no law.")
This is why God opposes the proud. Nothing in the fruit of the Spirit says anything about pride or selfish ambition because none of that is in His heart for us. (Psalm 23)He leads us in His "paths of righteousness" for "His namesake".(Sake means 'the pursuit of'-namesake means the pursuit of everything that God is-so, He leads us in His paths of righteousness so we will find Him, learn Him, and know Him with all our being-because His love desires it so.)
Our private mantra:
"Everything He does is for me; everything I do is for Him."
...because He loves us...
Father in heaven,
Forgive me my selfish ambition and pride. I want to learn Your strength the way You want. I am listening.
Gentle teacher of all humility,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
