Our Confidence
Monday, February 10, 2025
Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 139:23–24 (ESV)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24 And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!
Verse of the Day: 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.”
Daily Reading: Leviticus 8-10 Matthew 25:31-46
Our Confidence
“Do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.” (Hebrews 10:35)
I need to consider how great God is. I mean that we should all see the opposites in this difference between what the world has to offer and what God delivers.
The world offers all that appeals to my human nature-to our human nature-comfort-relief-thrills-satisfaction. How does that work?
Let the power go out and see how comfortable you are. Relief and thrills are so very temporary and satisfaction is so fleeting. After you pay $150 for food at the big store, the person says, “You have saved $13.65 today”. Nothing was ‘saved’.
Our confidence or our trust in God-what we call our faith-is the most valuable thing we will have in this life. If we don’t believe this, we will struggle always. If we believe it, we will do whatever it takes to allow the Holy Spirit to build our confidence in Him up.
This means in all times we stand firm in our beliefs. In the hardest of times, we hang on and depend on God’s strength. In the best of times, we don’t let confidence in self and in the world get between us and God’s truth because:
“...because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.”(Hebrews 10:34)
Do you know this? Are you committed to depending on God for all you need-all you feel?
Hebrews 10:35 says, “Don’t throw away your confidence.” Don’t throw away what God offers as you throw away the ‘wrappings’ of the world. It is that easy to do. This is what the world teaches. The enemy will work and work until we think little of the daily sustaining power of the Holy Spirit because we let go of our confidence in Him.
The opposite of ‘throw away’ is ‘gather together’.
Go before God and ask Him to teach you all He wants you to know about gathering trust in Him. Tell Him that while all the world grinds on you and around you, you want to stand firm in Him.
He will do it.
...because He loves us…
Father in Heaven,
Your name is above all the world. Let your kingdom come in my knowledge and may I obey Your will. Forgive me for trusting the world and not You. Lead me away from this evil.
Mighty and gracious Father and friend,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
