  Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:   Luke 19:10

for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Memory verse: Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love,

that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Today's reading: 1 KINGS 3-5 LUKE 20:1-26

Off The Wall

Ecclesiastes 1:9--What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.

Have you seen the writing on the wall? This is a saying we have all heard many times before and we will hear it again. But where did it come from? It came right out of the Bible in Daniel 5 where the king saw a hand appear and write four words on the wall. The four words were read by Daniel and told of the king's demise.

When we say, "I can see the writing on the wall", we are saying that we can tell what is going to happen- that we can see it and interpret.

Sometimes we jump to conclusions and take action before we have had time to pray about a situation and the conclusion to it all is worse than if we had prayed and waited.

Isaiah 40:31-...but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength...

Psalm 33:20 Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield.

We think we can 'carry a bigger stick' and get things done--if we can 'one- up' someone...

The scripture tells us that if we wait on the Lord that we will have our strength renewed and that He will be our shield. If we wait we can be strong and shielded.

I think of all the times that my wife and I have been shielded from things that were going on around us; things we did not know of until they were already over. We were protected from our own over reaction and the results. Sometimes it pays greatly to not read the writing on the wall but to let God handle it to begin with.

For instance, if we had been there and had the power, what would we have done at the trial and cross of Christ? Remember, folks did not understand the outcome like they did afterwards. But knowing what we now know, some still might have tried to prevent what only Christ could do--

See...sometimes when we think we know best, we are wrong.

But Christ knew and knows what is good and perfect for us and we must not move so quickly on what we think may be 'on the wall'. Remember what was written on the cross...'KING...'

Pray and wait for shield and strength...

...because He loves us..

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me for 'taking control' and 'handling things' the way I want. Grant me patience and teach me to wait wit Your grace.

Patient and faithful God,

In the name of our Lord Jesus,

Amen
