No Where to Fall

Good Morning, Lord

No Where To Fall

Em·bar·rass·ment (a feeling of self-consciousness)

King David danced in the road in front of the whole community. He was so happy that the ark of the Lord was coming home to stay. After all, all the wars, so far, had been won and the biggest enemies defeated while David had trusted God. God had kept David safe all the time while Saul tried to find him and kill him. King David was wrapped up in serving and loving God and giving God the Glory. Nothing was more important to David than his relationship to God.

David had a wife named Michal who was the daughter of Saul-a daughter of a king now married to a king. She looked out the window and saw her husband, the king, dancing in his boxers in front of all the people.

This was an extreme kick to the pit of her ego's stomack. She had spent a fortune on just the wardrobe of her servants and her husband had disrobed for a street-dance. How alarming-how degrading-how demeaning! She was so embarrassed. Well, she had never...!

David could not feel anything but Joy in the Lord. He was not worried about what anyone thought. His clothing was so heavy that it had kept him from being free to dance like he felt so off came the clothes. Nothing mattered except his joy in the Lord.

Michal had a public image to maintain-in her mind. She was above such foolishness-in her mind. When you hold yourself up so high in your mind, you and only you are responsible when you get knocked down. If you are humble like David, you have no where to fall. Your humility prevents the injury to ego.

Injury to ego can only happen if our egos are vulnerable. The definition for embarrassment is 'a feeling of self-consciousness'.

Our prayer should always be to be as 'God-conscious' as David was so that our 'feelings do not get hurt' at every other word.  

Think about the last time you got your feelings hurt-(were offended)- by something someone said or did.

If your feelings had not been so self-involved-if your mind had been on the love of God-you could have walked away in peace. But instead...(we can argue with this all we want, but...)

Pray to live in peace and be God-conscious.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Keep my mind aware of my constant need to keep You first in my mind-and keep me out of my focus. Forgive me for allowing my feelings to be hurt so easily.

Father of perfect gifts and great power!
