Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Romans 8:1-2

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Today's reading: 2 KINGS 10-12 JOHN 1:29-51

A Spiritual Mind-Set

1 Corinthians 2:14 ►The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

First, Jesus says in John 5:44 " How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?

Jesus spoke to those who would say they only lived by the letter of the law. They only wanted to 'look' good and control the people-they had no grasp of the heart of Moses and the love he had for God.

Jesus continued in verses 46 & 47, "46 If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. 47 But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?”

They read it-they wrote the words of Moses everywhere-on buildings-on plaques; they held everyone else to the words, made them live by them-they just did not believe them. Their world was decorated by the words of Moses-but these words were foreign to their hearts.

There are many scriptures written in stone in and around our national capitol mall. The stones are nothing but stones and words are just work of craftsmen-until-we allow the Holy Spirit to bring the words to life in our hearts.

We must be before God with our study. Our hearts must be before God as we study. We must plead as the disciples: Luke 17:5 ►The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"

Don't just study-don't just read-visit the Lord Himself...ask God, over and over, to bring His word to life in your heart.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Bring Your word to life in my heart and lead me to live it breath by breath. Forgive me as I learn to overcome these human walls.
