Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Joshua 1:9
9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Verse of the day- Proverbs 15:1
15 “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”
Today’s reading: 2 Chronicles 19-20 John 13:21-38
Set Free-Abiding in Christ
Jesus tells us to abide in His love.
“If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love” (John 15:10) This does not mean that by performing we will abide in His love-Jesus means that by abiding in His love, our lives will bear the fruit of obedience. John 15:15 says, “He who abides in Me...bears much fruit-apart from Me, you can do nothing”.
Jesus also tells us to abide in His word.
John 8:31–32 “Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, ‘If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’”
Set free from what? In John 8:34, Jesus says, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.”
Apart from Jesus we cannot abide in His love and His word. That goes without saying. But we must continue returning to His word-this word-until we hear God say this to our hearts.
To abide means to ‘continue in’-to ‘live in’. It is time to start living the life that Christ lived and died to give us-the life that He is.
Live in Christ. Tell God that you want to know all that that means and how to do it.
...because He loves us...He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
You are above all. Your kingdom be revealed. Your will be treasured in my heart. I want to live in Your love and Your word today. Forgive me for turning to the world. Lead me away from unconscious life.
Relentless God of life and loving,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
