Living And Powerful
Friday, October 28, 2022 Good Morning, Lord Verse of the Day: Acts 26:20 but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance. Memory verse: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Today's reading: JEREMIAH 15-17 2 TIMOTHY 2 Living and Powerful Hebrews 4:12 New King James Version For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Not only is the Word of God living and powerful, it is: soul piercing... thought discerning... Soul piercing- The Word gets to the most hidden part of our lives-way down or way back or wherever it is we think we have our secrets hidden-the Word of God is living and works its way in. The truth of God finds it all out but with tender mercies. God's love is far above holding these things against us after we have faced Him with whatever it is. Once we have confessed it He chooses to never remember. He chooses never again to bring it up. God's word judges our intentions. What are you planning? You see? When God's word says to take every thought captive, God wants us to know that He is right there with us to power us up to wrap up what would turn into a bad plan and remove it and then progress with our lives. The word is Christ Jesus, John 1:1. The Word is alive. The written word comes off the page by the power of the Holy Spirit and fuels our living in Him. How can we miss such blessings by finding excuses not to spend time reading and studying and meditating? Psalm 42:1, 2 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul longs after You, O God. 2My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When shall I come and appear in God’s presence? Have we ever really felt like this? Have we ever reached a point in our spiritual lives when we could not wait until the next time we could be alone with God? Have we ever longed for God like we do for food or water...or a good time...or to be with those we love here on earth? Have we ever longed for God like we long to be free of hurt or pain or debt or trouble? This is a big problem. Our priorities are on temporal things. We are disobedient in that we do not love God with all that we are and have. How do we fix this? Let God fix it. We must confess our weak focus and commit to loving God with everything in our souls-and concentrate on this constantly-while we work or play-in all we do, we must focus on Him. How do I know God will fix it? It says it right there in scripture. James 4:8 Come near to God, and God will come near to you. You are sinners. So clean sin out of your lives. You are trying to follow God and the world at the same time. Make your thinking pure. Turn to Christ Jesus-He is waiting. ...because He loves us... Father in Heaven, Forgive me my weak desire for Your word. Give me such a hunger and thirst for the Living Word-for Christ Jesus to speak to us from the written page-great anticipation of the word coming alive in my heart-our hearts! Humble me away from excuses so I may live in Your truth! Great and loving, living Word! In the name of Christ Jesus, Amen
