1 Long ago, at different times and in various ways, God’s voice came to our ancestors through the Hebrew prophets. 2 But in these last days, it has come to us through His Son, the One who has been given dominion over all things and through whom all worlds were made.
Memory of the Month: Psalm 33:4
4 For the word of the Lord is right and true;
he is faithful in all he does.
Today's reading: EZEKIEL 42-44 1 JOHN 1
Light Walker
1 John 1:6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Our life on earth is a walk. We either walk in darkness and say we have nothing to confess or we walk in the light being truthful with ourselves and God.
Walking in darkness to many people means looking well and out-performing; it means living by the rules of 'want and attain' or 'whatever it takes'. It means glorying in their sins and deceiving themselves by false senses of happiness and security. Walking in darkness means believing wrong is right.
Walking in the light is being right-living a righteous life and living without pride. This cannot be done short of God-control. Walking in the light is knowing that we are only in the light because of God's grace in Christ Jesus.
Being truthful with ourselves and God is walking in the light because we know we cannot hide anything from God.
Remember the old vampire movies where the vampires would perish in the light?
The saved cannot live in the darkness. We can step into it by our own choices and do it to our detriment. If we hide it or deny it, it simply becomes worse. It cuts us off from knowing unity with the body of Christ-our family.
But when we turn and take responsibility for our actions and agree with God and confess-all is forgiven; we have stepped back into the light of Life. God has promised to never think about it again; He will never bring it up-not ever. We are meant to live without guilt in God's family.
Is this understated? Words really do no justice to this truth. Only you and God know what it is like for you to feel completely clean-out in the open in full view of our glorious God. (Only you know what it is like for you to be in the darkness...)
Walk in the light as He is in the light. Be a 'light walker'.
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Build in me the desire to always walk in Your light and to always walk in truth with You and myself.
You are my Father of glorious light! Glory to God!
