Good Morning, Lord
Verse of the Day: Colossians 3:15
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
Memory verse: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
Readings: EZEKIEL 20-21 JAMES 5
Just For Love
The Wizard said to the 'tin-man', "A heart is not judged by how much you love but by how much you are loved by others".
How many generations have had this lie planted in their minds? The Bible says,
"We are loved because God loved us first",1 John 4:19; the Bible also says,
"Love thy neighbor", Matthew 22:37-40.
A popular song from the eighties says, "Won't somebody find me someone to love?"
No one can love for someone else. No one can employ your love but you. But really loving those who want to act like loving is a problem are usually interested in their own appetites. 'Free love' in the sixties meant 'free your lust' which is what satan wants.
Loving freely is what God wants. God loves without condition. If we love with God's love and through His eyes, He removes our filters and phobias and lets us see straight to their hearts. Hearts of the world are void of true love and seek that temporal, worldly fix. They simply need Jesus.
There was one song that had some words that almost made sense, although they were not meant for Godly reasons. Let us find these words a Godly reason:
"You're nobody 'til somebody loves you-
So find yourself somebody to love"
(Let's change it to say,
"I'm nobody 'til I love somebody", and
there's plenty of somebody's to love)
I have taught for my entire ministry and my time as a dad that you will find yourself when you pour yourself into loving others.
Just before the betrayal and crucifixion of Jesus, He and his followers were together and a woman broke a really expensive bottle of perfume and poured it over Jesus' head. He said she would be remembered wherever the gospel was preached.
Here is a song that speaks of love for Jesus:
"Broken and spilled out
Just for love of you Jesus
My most precious treasure
Lavished on Thee
Broken and spilled out
And poured at Your feet
In sweet abandon
Let me be spilled out
And used up for Thee
Talk of this kind of love may discourage some because they feel they fall so short...be encouraged...God loves you as much as anyone on earth and wants only for you to learn how to pass it on-to pour it out on those around you.
All of us can love more-always-we have only begun to scratch the surface. God's love is inexhaustible.
Reach out and keep reaching in the name of Christ. There is always a broken heart who needs a loving hand up.
John 13:34 A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. 35By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”
That's a big 'if'. The world does not see love as God does. God is love. They must see His love in us-His love is our mission.
...because He loves us...
Lord God, Father in Heaven,
Forgive me for letting judgement block Your love. I want to pour Your love on those around me who are the least in this life as well as the rest.
Great God of Love and Peace, You are merciful!!
In Christ Jesus' name,
Amen
