Jesus Prayed-And Still Does

Wednesday, November 27, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...

Verse of the Day: Colossians 3:16

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Memory verse: Psalm 42:2(New American Bible )

"My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I enter and see the face of God?"

Today's reading:  Ezekiel 33-34 1 Peter 5

Jesus Prayed-And Does Still

Praying is talking to God-put very simply-about sins we have committed-needs in our physical and spiritual lives and prayers for our concerns for other people and things.

Jesus taught us to pray  in His words, Matthew 6:9-13, and by His example,(some 38 times I could count). He prayed before meals, after healings-all night.

The point is that Jesus was continually showing us all how to stay connected to our Father in Heaven.

It may be odd for us to consider, but Jesus prays now-for us-how do we know that?

Romans 8:34 (ESV)

34 "Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us."

No longer here, but at the right hand of God-interceding for us for the sins he died for that we still commit.

1 John 2:1 (ESV) "My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."

This is our example-Jesus-even as He sits at the right hand of our Father-intercedes for us-prays for us-because His death-the death of the perfect sacrifice-God's plan-makes it all possible.

Because of this:

2 Corinthians 5:21 "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."

I don't know what Jesus says to God when I ask to be forgiven for a sin or sins, but we all can know that He lives eternally to insure our salvation.

John 10:28 ►"I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand."

Hebrews 7:25 (ESV)

25 "Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them."

Live a life of drawing near and know Jesus is always speaking for you.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Your name is our righteousness and ultimately so much more. Show me how to live in Your 'kingdom freedom'. Give me desire for today's Kingdom power. Forgive me for taking prayer so lightly. Lead me away from weak prayer.

Our King and forgiver,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
