Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Jeremiah 15:19 ESV
Therefore thus says the Lord: “If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them.”
Verse of the day: Psalm 46:10
10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Today’s Reading: Ezra 1-2 John 19:23-42
Our New Reality
The next command of Jesus we see is to be ‘joyful’. The joy we know in this world has nothing to do with divine joy. The emotions we feel on this earth tell us one thing: we don’t even know how to be emotional. Without Jesus, all we know is what we know-limited to human understanding and feelings. When we are created new-born of the spirit-given the mind of Christ-all things become new-emotions included.
2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
We seem to continue as always. Crying, grieving, laughing-but what of the new spiritual self. I want to weep like Jesus wept. I want to think about love the way He did. I want to look at my enemies the Jesus did. I want to hear the Father the way Jesus did.
So why do I continue to plow my fields the same old way with treasure beneath my feet? Jesus said:
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” (Matthew 13:44)
When I was saved, I gave up everything for that field. The scripture tells me that Gave gives me all things.(Romans 8:32)
We already own the field that holds the treasure beneath-or better to know is that the treasure owns us-Jesus.
We must get beneath the surface-we cannot grow unless our roots reach down for the treasure-the understanding that comes from seeking God and loving Him with all we are.
Tell God you want to know His treasure and live an obediently joyful life-that you want to dig deep and find all the treasure he has for you.
...because He loves us...He will do it...
Father in Heaven,
God whose name means all pleasure in Your presence, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come and Your will be done by me. Give me today the sense of Your endless joy. Forgive me for wallowing in my sorrow. Lead me away from evil.
God of all Joy and relief,
In the name of Jesus,
Amen
