  Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Ephesians 4:15

but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—

Memory verse: Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Today's reading: 1 KINGS 12-13 LUKE 22:1-30

Hallowed

The Lord's model prayer has a phrase in it that was, for me, at least a question of definition and at most a mystery. "Hallowed be thy name" was a mystery for me as a child and a hard thing to define as an adult.

When you read this or repeat this line, as I hope you sincerely  do, what does it mean to you? If, after some thought, you have some difficulty with it, I have a suggestion:

 Revelation 5

John tells in awe his vision of the slain lamb, who is alive, being pronounced as the only one to be able to open 'the scroll' with its 7 seals.

John was in awe of it all. The beings in heaven were all in awe. Verse 11 says: 11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders.

Please, try to see this in your mind. This is a very large picture of a celebration or coronation--not to reduce it but to try to put a name on it-a time where Christ, the lamb is recognized as 'The One'. Heaven knew it.

This is a picture for us by God-a coming together of all showing recognition of Christ's rightful place.

Verse 12:

In a loud voice they were saying:

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,

to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength

and honor and glory and praise!”

13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them...

(All voices that have ever been or ever will be...all are in awe of Christ, the Lamb that was slain, who is the only one who can do this opening of the scroll.) 13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”

14 The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.

So, the next time, hopefully now, that you think, utter or pray these words- hallowed be thy name-think again on this scene where all of all times were in awe and they still are...they all say these words with you...

Hallowed be Thy name...

...all because He loves us...

Father in heaven,

Forgive me for not digging for greater understanding of how to hallow Your name. Teach me, oh Lord God.

Good and faithful God of all,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
