Grow Faithfulness
Psalm 37: 3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.
Do good-trust in the Lord and do good. Here is a choice for all of us. Trusting in the Lord should be a natural as we have come into His family by faith. But, this is like every other day. We have choices to make with every waking moment. Believing God for all good and perfect gifts-'our daily bread' comes to mind. That which we consume comes from the blessing of a 'living' that we have been afforded.
The process of making a living includes maintaining realtionships. Trusting God and doing good means that we treat people with dignity and honor as we maintain relationships-even those who would see us fail-those who don't like us. Reading this Psalm 37 thoroughly tells us how to trust God in dealing with evil around us. Defining 'doing good' may be hard with words. But the compassion God has for each soul can be felt if we do not choose to ignore it. Moving on that compassion brings us to cultivating righteousness.
How does one 'farm' righteousness? The original language translates something like 'feed rigtheousness securely'. What we must injest from this is that God wants us to make great effort in securing righteousness in our souls-in our hearts and minds-our entire being.
Where does our life definition of righteousness come from? It comes from scripture and God's view of sin and purity and how much God longs for our hearts to be pure.
Our Heavenly Father wants us to be pure-white as snow-He sees us that way when He sees us in His son Christ Jesus. He also knows that we still walk in human form and are flawed people-people who have been washed in the blood of the perfect Lamb, but human beings, still.
Our first key to cultivating righteousness, then, is to get a great picture of how much all this means to God. We are His children who have been liberated or saved by the ultimate sacrifice of His Son and who are loved with all of His being.
Spend as much time as you can getting to know the heart of God and and what He wants for your life of righteousness. Seek His 'face' and know Him.

Father in Heaven,
I need more understanding and knowledge of Your heart and love and how I am to cultivate righteousness in my life. Forgive me my insecurities and teach me to trust You with all of me.
