Fresh Words

‎Wednesday, ‎July ‎14, ‎2021

Good Morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:  Psalm 11:7

The Eternal is right in all His ways; He cherishes all that is upright. Those who do what is right in His eyes will see His face.

Memory of the month:  Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be  satisfied.

Today's reading: PSALM 10-12 ACTS 19:1-20

Fresh Words

Ephesians 4:29 Don’t let even one rotten word seep out of your mouths. Instead, offer only fresh words that build others up when they need it most. That way your good words will communicate grace to those who hear them. 30 It’s time to stop bringing grief to God’s Holy Spirit; you have been sealed with the Spirit, marked as His own for the day of rescue. 31 Banish bitterness, rage and anger, shouting and slander, and any and all malicious thoughts—these are poison. 32 Instead, be kind and compassionate. Graciously forgive one another just as God has forgiven you through the Anointed, our Liberating King(Christ Jesus).

It is time to comb through our hearts and look at what makes us act and speak as we do. What Paul has written there in Ephesians is instruction-instruction that demands decision on our part.

"Be on your best behavior"-have you ever heard that?

A father stands at his the hospital bedside of his child who had gone through a minor emergency and speaks with the folks at whose house this accident had occurred. He stays calm and conducts himself as a gentle giant. A home, it is a little different as words sometimes get loud.

Why should some people and situations deserve the best we can be and then at home the family sees the 'real' us? A great old preacher said once, "The true test of a Christian is in his home". We all know this to be true.

Luke 6:45-Jesus said, "It’s the same with people. A person full of goodness in his heart produces good things; a person with an evil reservoir in his heart pours out evil things. The heart overflows in the words a person speaks; your words reveal what’s within your heart.

We have repeated this before, "When we speak, we give words immortality". It is the same with our actions. Everything we say and do is remembered by the observer.

But...our loving Father is grieved by the foul things in our lives. We say we love our God. Then, why, what could be the reason for our grieving Him with our negativity?

It takes our being conscious of God's heart all the time. It takes practice and commitment. Jesus said to take up our crosses daily, Luke 9:23. Paul said he died daily, 1 Corinthians 15:31; he also said to:

“to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21 ...)

"to crucify the flesh" (Galatians 5:24 ...)

"to live is Christ" (Philippians 1:21 ...)

All of it is in our scripture...we all must decide everyday-all day long-to be conscious of God's heart.

The children see us-our families see us-the world sees us-are we grieving God by what they see?

Now, this is not meant to send anyone to depression over their sin. It is meant to send us all to the throne of God on our knees-I say us-I include myself for I am the worst.

1 John 1:9-"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

Acts 3:19

19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,

Pray that we would all 'offer only fresh words' in the name of our Lord Jesus.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Have mercy on me for I have grieved You with my foul heart and lips. Thank you for your grace and mercy.

God of all patience!

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
