Everyday Mercy

‎Sunday, ‎August ‎8, ‎2021

Good Morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Psalm 149:4

For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.

Memory of the month:  Proverbs 15:1-A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Today's reading: PSALM 74-76 ROMANS 9:16-33

Everyday

Vessels of mercy-first to receive mercy and then to give mercy-that is us-everyday.

Definition of mercy...

Compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm.

Romans 9:

He wanted to show his anger and to let people see his power. But he patiently endured those he was angry with—people who were ready to be destroyed. 23 He waited with patience so that he could make known the riches of his glory to the people he has chosen to receive his mercy. God has already prepared them to share his glory. 24 We are those people, the ones God chose...(ERV)

God chose to use mercy over great destructive power to show the 'riches of His glory' to us-the ones He chose.

Lamentations 3:22-24 New King James Version (NKJV)

22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,

Because His compassions fail not.

23 They are new every morning;

Great is Your faithfulness.

Every morning, everyday, and all day long...God's forgiveness is new for us. His compassion is new everyday. It never grows weary. If God was patient and did not show His great power in the destruction of the wicked so we could see His glory in His mercy to us, then how great is His patience with us?

Everyday we walk in the mercies of God-in His compassion and forgiveness. He wants us to see it and just how great it is so we will show compassion and forgiveness in our lives.

The people you need to forgive-you know them-they are there in the back of your mind-always. God has compassion for them-for you to use and feel for those people-forgiving is a choice. If we can let God break through the hard crust of hate and malice to feel His compassion, we will be able to see that we can forgive.

Then, everyday, we can live in God's tender mercies-every, single day.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me as I forgive. Break my heart with Your compassion for those I have not forgiven as I work to forgive them.

Merciful Father-compassionate, loving Father!

In the name of Jesus Christ,

Amen
