Drop The Act
Tuesday, November 26, 2024
Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...
Verse of the Day: Hebrews 12:28
28 Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,
Memory verse: Psalm 42:2(New American Bible )
"My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I enter and see the face of God?"
Today's reading: Ezekiel 30-32 1 Peter 4
Drop The Act
Stop the foolishness. Look in the mirror and see who you really are in Christ. Stand naked before God constantly in your heart and mind so you live unpretentiously-without a false face or 'act'-so you can pray.
All we do in this world to be accepted by the world keeps us from being who God wants us to be before the world-Jesus.
This comes from 1 Peter 4.
Verse 7 says, "...the end is near, so stay alert and sober so you can pray." God says through Peter that maintaining a Godly mind-using the mind of Christ(1 Corinthians 2:16)-is first and foremost all the time. Being 'sober' means letting no foolishness of the world bogg us down.
8 "More than anything, keep loving each other actively; because love covers many sins"
We stay sober to live a life of prayer by loving. The descriptive word for love here is actively-in the Greek-strenously-intensely-constantly. This active love leaves no room for selfindulgence. This Divine love demands we pour ourselves into others.
This love is fueled by a straight connection to the heart of God maintained by being 'sober'-focused and conscious. Verse 14 says this is because the 'Sh’khinah'-the very Glory of God-is resting on you!
Read it over and over -do what you have to do to get this to soak in to Your whole being.
Drop the act and live!
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Holy is Your name. Your kingdom is living and vibrant.
Give me Your bread to live soberly and pray constantly. Forgive me for being fake. Take away my desire for the world.
Holy and blessed God,
In the name of Jesus,
Amen
