Drawing Near

Tuesday, January 9, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:   Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Memory verse: Romans 8:32 ►

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Today's reading: GENESIS 23-24 MATTHEW 7

Drawing Near

Let us draw near with a true heart. (Hebrews 10:22)

Christ died so we could draw near to God-not just so we could have eternal life with Him-but so we could learn what living near Him-walking with Him-means in this life of learning how to walk with Him above the pain and pride.

Drawing near does not mean that we work our way into His presence or work our way to Heaven.

Drawing near means we let go of everything in all humility and simply and profoundly experience His presence.

Drawing near means we do not settle for a life of knowing God from a distance-this is not real.

Drawing near means that we are learning how joyous it is in God's presence.

From the time Adam and Eve were driven from the garden of Eden to the ultimate sacrifice of Christ and His defeat of death for us in His resurrection, all God has done and is doing is for us to be near Him-close to Him.

Get close to God-draw near to Him. Whatever it takes, find His joy for you in His presence.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me for not having the resolve to get close to You. Build my desire for You. I want to do whatever it takes to draw near.

Great God of all peace and joy,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
