Dominated?

Saturday, January 4, 2025

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...

Verse of the Day: Micah 6:8

8 He has told you, O man, what is good;

and what does the Lord require of you

but to do justice, and to love kindness,

and to walk humbly with your God?

Memory verse: Psalm 139:23–24 (ESV)

23  Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24  And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

Today's reading:  Genesis 7-9 Matthew 3

#4-Are You Dominated?

It is a fact that we will never control anything on this earth except our minds. You may be the richest person on earth and have a power base of thousands of people that work for you. At your command they all move and do your bidding-but you will never control their minds.

God created us as 'independents' who make their own choices-this separates us-makes us higher than the other creatures.

Our life is governed by our choices. We either choose to follow God in Christ governed by His divine love or we choose to be dominated by things in this world.

In Christ, we must still make choices each day. We choose to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with our God-or not.

The question is: "What dominates you at this moment?" Are you controlled by God or not?

1 Peter 2:11 "Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul."

Ephesians 6:12 "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places."

Paul says this: “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything."1 Corinthians 6:12

The state of your soul and mine depends on how serious we are about following Christ. Will we take up or cross and die to self and follow Christ-now-and all day-not being dominated by worldly things or will we walk in sin dominated by the enemy?

Our life, our joy, our existence can only be in Christ Jesus. We can only, truly love our precious family, friends, and neighbors walking in Christ-not being dominated by the world.

This is the choice-say as Paul said: "I will not be dominated by anything".

He also said in Philippians 3:"...I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord...I may gain Christ and be found in him...through faith in Christ...I want to know Christ...I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me."

I will not be dominated by any 'thing' but live as a servant of Christ.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

I want to hallow Your name above all else. I want to know Your kingdom peace and wisdom. Give me the great desire to obey You. Forgive me my negative attentions. Lead me dark from thinking.

Sweet Friend and mighty God,

In the name Of Christ Jesus,

Amen
