Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verse of the day-Psalm 59:16
16 “But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress.”
Today’s reading: Exodus 29-30 Matthew 21:23-46
A Major Omission
Romans 8:28
28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
This is cited from the King James version of the Bible for a reason. This is what we have all heard from the beginning. This is what people ‘stabb’ at quoting when we hear them say, “All things work together for good”.
There are two other ‘items’ in that verse that cannot-absolutely cannot-be omitted.
The first is this: “If we love God-all things work together for good.”
The second: “...to them who are called according to His purpose.”
Now you may think that both of these go together and, I believe, they do not exist apart-but both suggest growth in obedience on our part.
When I got married, I did not have a clue how much I would love my wife today-had no idea what it really meant to love her. I am still learning.
I am to love God more than her(Matthew 10:37) or, I believe, I cannot love her as I should.
Then, first, I must love God with all I am. I cannot do this all at once so what do I do? Desire-intention-My desire to love God must be my intention and God will make it happen.
Second, I must ‘make my calling sure’.
“Therefore, brothers, strive to make your calling and election sure. For if you practice these things you will never stumble”, 2 Peter 1:10.
What does this really mean to you and me? We must be about the Lord’s work for each of us-whatever that is and none but the Lord can reveal this to you and me but we will not know without seeking Him with all our hearts.
In conclusion, if you are in Christ, you have been called according to God’s purpose-fact.
Our desire to love God must be our intention.
Is this your intention-to love God with all you heart, soul, and mind?(Matthew22:37-39)
If so, you can truly say all things work for your good.
If not-pray for true desire to love God with all you are-seek God with all you are(Matthew 6:33) and leave it up to God.
Little by little, breath to breath, day to day, you will grow into the amazing life God has for you.
Tell God, you yearn to know and love Him the way He wants.
...because He loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
I fall so short but I want to hallow Your name and I ask for the desire for my obedience to be as real as obedience is in Heaven. Give me today what You say I should have. Forgive me for looking for excuses to not seek You. Lead me away from this evil.
Lord of understanding,
In the name of my Lord Jesus Christ,
Amen
