Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verse of the day-1 John 4:18
18 “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.”
Today’s reading: Numbers 3-4 Mark 3:20-35
Christ-Servant
“The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)
In our lives of living for Christ, how do we see Christ as servant? Does it insult Christ to see Him as our servant? It does if we see him as one who ‘takes orders’. We are not His masters.
But if we believe Him to be our ‘saving’ servant-the servant who helps us who are so needy and weak-this shows our dependence on Him as our Servant. He is the only one who can give us what we need the most.
But what is His attitude as our servant? The scripture tells us.
He takes pleasure in acting and serving on our behalf:
Isaiah 64:4 (ESV)
4 From of old no one has heard
or perceived by the ear,
no eye has seen a God besides you,
who acts for those who wait for him.
Psalm 147:11 (ESV)
11 but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him,
in those who hope in his steadfast love.
One verse shows His excitement as He serves:
2 Chronicles 16:9 (ESV)
9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.
His eyes search with great energy to give strong support to us with blameless hearts.
There it is is-blameless hearts. What does that mean? The word for ‘blameless’ in the Hebrew is ‘salem’. It means complete, peaceful, whole, full, and perfect.
We know our hearts will never on this earth be perfect but we depend on Christ for that. We depend on Christ for our peace, wholeness, and fullness-for everything.
So the eyes of the Lord, with His energy and joy, look for our hearts to depend on His provision as our ‘servant’ who gives His all to us.
How much we depend on God in Christ in the Holy Spirit in our lives depends on how real God is to us each waking moment.
When we read His word, it is not how much we read but how much do we expect God to speak to us as we read-not the length and beauty of our prayers-but how and why we pray.
Ask God to show you how to know Him more deeply.
...because He loves you, He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Great are You and greatly to be praised. Make my love for You deeper and greater. Give me a greater understanding today. Forgive me for letting my heart and mind wander away from You. Lead me away from evil.
Our God who provides.
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
