Desire To Hallow

Tuesday, May 14,2024

  Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Proverbs 31:30

Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

Memory verse: Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Today's reading: 2 KINGS 22-23 JOHN 4:31-54

Desire to Hallow

"Hallowed be thy name..."(Matthew 6:9)

Hallow means to venerate which means 'to regard with deep respect or reverence.' This is something that cannot be faked. It cannot be turned on and off. It is something that happens naturally in a heart that feels true honor for someone. In reference to our great God, it means honoring and loving.

Revering God has reached a low in our world, I think. I don't see it as much as I read it in the Bible, so, why is this?

God is perfect-He is perfectly pure and holy. The Lord Jesus who never committed even one sin died for each of us so that we would not have to. Our perfect God gave His perfect Son to die for us so we could be with Him forever.

This and so much more is why we are to hallow or revere God's name-This what is meant by 'God's name'-it is everything that God encompasses-His creation, His signs and wonders through the ages and His salvation in Christ Jesus for us along with His indwelling us with His personal presence, the Holy Spirit. His deliverance and provision, His healing and counsel-all parts of His name.

Psalm 86:12--"I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever."

Psalm 115:1--"Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!"

Revelation 4:11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”

These verses were written by hearts that felt a true hallowing of God's name.

So, how do we truely feel this for God if we don't already?

We must dig into God's word and find out who He really is. We must spend time before God-in front of God and experience His gaze into our souls from His perfect perspective and get to know His complete mercy and what His perfect love demands for us instead of what we deserve.

Being honest with God is a start. Tell Him you want to love Him with all you are because you are not there yet(He already knows but wants you to admit it). Tell Him you want to praise Him from a heart that is full of reverence for Him.

God is most praised when we are most pleased with Him-when we are most pleased with Him, we naturally hallow His name.

God has no change to experience-that is our job-to grow into the image of Christ Jesus, Romans 8:29.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me for not taking this seriously, great God, I want to love You with all I am and I am not there yet. Lead me to grow where I hold You above all else.

Perfect God and friend,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
