Good morning, Lord
Verse of the Day: Matthew 7:7–8 (ESV)
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
Memory verse: Psalm 90:14
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Today's reading: ESTHER 6-8 ACTS 6
Confident Prayer
Hebrews 4:16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
The word 'boldly' in this verse has been made by some to sound as if we can burst into God's throne room and demand what we want because of our 'rights' as a believer in Christ.
The word 'boldly' in the Greek translates assurance and bluntness.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:37, "All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ anything beyond this comes from the evil one."
This means for us to say what we mean-don't waste words. Be blunt and to the point.
Because we must always come before God as His humble children, Hebrews 4:16 must mean for us to go to God in prayer and say what we need quickly and with the assurance that our loving and great God is excited to give us what we ask in His will.
When we pray, does God pay attention to our fancy clothes or our diplomas on the wall? Does He see social prowess or political achievement? Does He see us as worldly failures or whatever we are here? I think not. He knows it all-but what He desires is a broken heart-that is the heart that is empty of self and ready-expecting God to birth a new day in this life full of His glory and grace.
God wants us to see our prayer time with Him to be life in Him-pray without ceasing(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Holy Spirit, my words fall short-God you are so big...
I want your will and your sustaining power. Forgive me my many words and my pretense. Show me Your way, today.
Might and high God,
In the of my Lord Jesus,
Amen
